Worry Makes Us Sick

Worry Makes Us Sick

Most of us put too much time and energy into worrying about our health and do little to maintain it. If we worked with the healing systems inside of us, there's an excellent chance we wouldn't get sick in the first place. Even if we get sick, we can always heal ourselves. So let's stop worrying, make better choices, and stay healthy.

Sometimes we worry that we might be sick already, or are going to get sick. Every little ache and pain makes us wonder about our health. We forget that it's natural to be healthy. Most of the pains we experience are actually part of being and staying well. For example, the soreness after a good work out helps us become stronger in the long run. Many day-to-day pains are a blessing in disguise.

We're designed to be and stay healthy. There are systems inside us constantly working to sustain us. Scientists know these systems are so powerful they can even fight cancer and other life threatening diseases. The body is wise. It constantly replaces old, sick, and dieing cells, with new healthy ones. We can facilitate these natural processes and stay well, through the choices we make. We can eat more fruits and vegetables, associate with positive people, and exercise regularly.

Even though we're designed to be healthy, we may go from doctor to doctor and get all the popular tests, fearing the worst. We live in fear. If we spent half as much money, time, and energy on staying healthy, most of us would probably not get sick in the first place. One can buy a lot of organic vegetables, gym memberships, and visits to the chiropractor for the cost of the average M.R.I. $2,200.00, and the all too trendy colonoscopy $1400.00. That's $3600.00. The tests are good when used appropriately, but they don't create health. Only we can do that and that's my point.

If we do get sick, all too often we have little faith we can heal ourselves. We assume we must "live with it", take drugs, or even have surgery. The drugs all have side effects, and surgery is always dangerous. People have trouble imagining we can work to create balance in our lives. If we eat correctly, rest, get moderate exercise, pray or meditate, we'll stand our best chance to be and stay healthy. There is scientific research that proves it.

People have cured themselves of the most God-awful conditions, including cancer, heart disease, and diabetes with lifestyle changes. Our bodies are that well designed. Worry and acting out of fear is not the same as taking measures to stay well. We can focus on wellness and create lifestyles that maintain health, instead of running after expensive diagnostic tests that do nothing to keep us healthy. Even if we become ill, we have enormous self-healing qualities that can be enhanced by establishing a balance from within. Doctors are wonderful, but there is no doctor more powerful than the one that's quietly working inside each of us to maintain our health.

Let's focus more on wellness and activities that lead to health, and stop worrying ourselves to death. Let's "dig our wells before we thirst." By making better choices, about the foods we eat, how we exercise, allowing for adequate rest and having more fun with our families, we can work with our body's fantastic self-healing abilities and reap the benefits of abundant health. Taking action toward better health will help to obliterate irrational fear. It's time we put our fears aside for once and for all, start believing in ourselves and focus on being and staying well!
